Thunderobot and Hygon launch new hardware for local AI and industrial robotics

The technology sector is seeing a surge in hardware and software specifically designed for local AI processing and industrial automation.

Thunderobot has announced the AI Master M7000, a high-performance workstation designed for local Large Language Model (LLM) inference. Featuring an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor and an XDNA-2 NPU delivering up to 50 TOPS, the system aims to reduce reliance on cloud resources. It utilizes Phison aiDAPTIV+ technology to expand memory capacity, allowing it to run models like GPT-OSS-120B locally.

In China, Hygon is expanding its reach from data centers to industrial applications. The company is set to unveil its 1000-series chips in Shenzhen, which are designed for robotics, machine vision, and networked manufacturing. These chips utilize the proprietary C86 architecture to provide power-efficient computing at the network edge.

Other developments include TerraMaster launching its 725-series enterprise rackmount NAS, powered by Intel Xeon D processors, to support AI training datasets and high-speed data access. Additionally, companies like sipgate are introducing AI agents like 'sona' to lower the entry barriers for small and medium-sized enterprises seeking to automate customer service without extensive technical expertise.
