Thunderstorms and heavy rain forecast for Dakotas, Minnesota, and Iowa

A weather system is bringing showers and thunderstorms across several regions. A complex of storms developing in the Dakotas is expected to move into southern Minnesota and northern Iowa early Sunday morning. These storms may produce heavy rain, lightning, strong winds, and small hail.

In other areas, a cold front may cause storms to redevelop along the I-35 corridor and North Shore, with potential for strong to severe storms in northwest Wisconsin.

Conditions are expected to shift toward mostly sunny skies following the precipitation. Some areas may experience hazy sunshine due to wildfire smoke from the northwestern United States. Temperatures are forecast to remain above normal, with highs generally in the 70s and 80s through much of next week.
