Thunderstorms in Switzerland cause wind gusts and road closures
Severe thunderstorms swept through parts of Switzerland on Friday morning, causing localized damage and road disruptions. In La Brévine, wind gusts reached 121.3 km/h during the storm.
In the Morges district, particularly at the foot of the Jura mountains, heavy precipitation and fallen branches led to road closures in areas including Apples, Saint-Livres, Ballens, and Yens. Specifically, travel was blocked on the routes between Apples and Pampigny, and between Ballens and Saint-Livres.
MétéoSuisse had previously issued warnings for degree 4 violent thunderstorms. While the storm caused material damage and blocked some transit axes, the fire and rescue service (SIS Morget) reported limited interventions, noting that the most intense activity was brief.
