Thurgood Marshall College Fund hosts leadership programs for HBCU students

Students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) recently participated in the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) Leadership Institute and 39th Anniversary Gala in Washington, D.C. The Leadership Institute, a highly selective professional development program, hosted approximately 500 students from 44 HBCUs to provide access to national employers and career opportunities.

Six students from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) were selected for the program, representing various majors in engineering, computer science, accounting, and industrial technology. To prepare for the institute, these students engaged in monthly coaching to enhance their professionalism and communication skills.

At the TMCF Anniversary Gala, Tuskegee University senior Jaida Bazemore served as a featured speaker. Bazemore, a business administration major, shared her experiences regarding student success and the impact of TMCF. She also highlighted her campus initiative, Tiger’s Comfort Corner, which provides menstrual care products to students. Bazemore noted that the connections made through the Leadership Institute previously helped her secure internship offers from companies such as Caterpillar Inc. and Boeing.
