Thuringia highlights historical inventions and local cultural events

Various cultural and historical highlights are noted in the Thuringia region. Historical milestones include the founding of the first German kindergarten by Friedrich Fröbel in Bad Blankenburg in 1840, the discovery of ultraviolet light by Johann Wilhelm Ritter in Jena in 1801, and the invention of the Skat card game in Altenburg.

In Weimar, the Museum for Prehistory and Early History of Thuringia is hosting a workshop on September 5 where participants can learn to forge arrowheads and construct historical arrows. Additionally, CDU Member of Parliament Michael Hose is organizing a church tower tour through Taubach, Oberweimar, and Weimar. Author Susanne Burzel will also hold a reading at the Eckermann Bookstore regarding the experiences of raising gifted children.
