Thuringia historical gardens host photography competition
The Stiftung Thüringer Schlösser und Gärten (STSG) has launched a photography competition titled ‘My most beautiful place in the green – favorite places in Thuringian parks and gardens.’ The initiative invites visitors to photograph their favorite locations within twelve historical parks and gardens across Thuringia, including sites such as Schlosspark Altenstein and Herzoglicher Park Gotha.
Beyond celebrating local scenery, the competition serves to highlight the impact of climate change on historical garden monuments. The STSG noted that extreme weather events, including drought, heavy rain, and storms, are increasingly damaging these cultural landmarks. Consequently, the organization's annual tree maintenance costs have more than quadrupled since 2017.
Participants can submit their entries via Instagram, Facebook, or email by September 27. The winning photograph will be published and awarded a small prize.
