Thuringia launches Handle jetzt campaign against violence against women

Cities in Thuringia, including Jena and Meiningen, are participating in the fifth annual Handle jetzt campaign to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25. Under the motto “Schau hin” (Look closely), the initiative encourages friends, family, colleagues, and neighbors to recognize warning signs and support victims.

The campaign places a specific emphasis on digital violence, including cyberstalking, deepfakes, hate speech, doxing, and sexualized violence based on images. It aims to provide information on counseling and support services available both within Thuringia and across Germany.

In Meiningen, activities include a reading and discussion with Christina Clemm, an exhibition titled “Weibliche Perspektiven” (Female Perspectives), and the “Red Shoes” action organized by the association Frauen helfen Frauen e. V. The color orange is used symbolically to represent a future free from violence.
