Thuringia launches school sports program for twelve schools

Thuringia is launching a new initiative under the ‘Startchancen-Programm’ to strengthen the link between physical activity and academic success at twelve specific schools. The program, which has a budget of approximately 709,000 euros and is scheduled to run until July 31, 2029, aims to increase cooperation between schools and organized sports.

Three full-time movement managers will be appointed to these schools to integrate tailored sports and movement activities into the daily school routine. They will also establish partnerships with local sports clubs to reach children and adolescents who previously had limited access to such opportunities. These activities may include active breaks, afternoon sports, project days, holiday programs, and school competitions.
