Thuringia police seek witnesses after illegal hazardous waste dump on Ringleben field road

Police criminal investigators in Nordhausen, Thuringia, issued a witness appeal concerning a large‑scale environmental crime. Around May 2025, unknown persons placed crushed building material along a roughly 1,600‑meter stretch of the field road at Solgraben between Ringleben and Esperstedt on the Unstrut‑Werra cycle path, without permission from the landowner.

Laboratory analysis showed the dumped material contained substances hazardous to health, contaminating the soil and prompting the need for extensive, costly remediation.
