Thuringia reviews teacher salary supplements for shortage subjects

Thuringia's Education Minister, Christian Tischner, has announced a review of salary supplements for teachers working in shortage subjects or high-demand regions. Currently, the state provides a ten percent salary increase for a period of five years to newly recruited teachers who commit to these specific areas.

The existing model has faced criticism from the Thuringian Teachers' Association, which argues the policy is unfair. Critics point out that the financial incentives only benefit new hires, while teachers who have been working in difficult subjects or regions for years receive no such compensation.
