Thuringian police investigate assault on journalists after AfD rally in Erfurt

Four days after the AfD party congress in Erfurt, three journalists from the online magazine Apollo News and the newspaper Junge Freiheit were attacked. Police say the reporters were surrounded, insulted and struck with blows and kicks, resulting in minor injuries to two of them. The Thuringian State Police have opened a criminal investigation for dangerous bodily injury and robbery, and have created a dedicated task force to process the case. They are reviewing extensive video footage from witnesses and police units and are asking the public to submit any additional recordings. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to identify the perpetrators.
