Gera Bus Disruptions and Weimar Special Train to Prague Scheduled for August
In Gera, bus lines 16 and 18 will operate on a reduced schedule from 07:00 to about 12:00 on 4 August because a construction crane is occupying the route. The Untitzer Straße stop will not be served, and altered routing between Zwötzen, Liebschwitz and Kleinfalke may cause early departures and delays. Passengers are advised to consult the special timetable posted at www.gvbgera.de.
Weimar’s Thüringer Eisenbahnverein announced a nostalgic special train to Prague on 22 August. The service departs Erfurt in the early morning, stops in Weimar, Naumburg, Weißenfels and other towns before reaching Decin for a locomotive change. The first leg is hauled by a diesel locomotive Baureihe 232 named “Ludmilla”; the Prague leg will be pulled by a Czech Baureihe 750 “Brillenlok”. Arrival in Prague is planned for about 13:15, with departure at 18:30 and return to Weimar the next day around 01:00. Tickets remain available and can be booked by phone (0177 3385415) or online.
Additional local updates include Gera’s school health examinations for children beginning school in 2027/28 to start in August, with online appointment scheduling from August 2026, and new film screenings at Gera’s Metropol Kino. In Weimar, a flea market will be held at the Kaufland parking area on 1 August, and the Hofatelier in Niedergrunstedt will open new exhibitions over the weekend.
