Thuringian Schlosserbuben: Traditional plum beignets

Thüringer Schlosserbuben, also known as plum beignets, are a traditional East German autumn specialty. The dessert consists of fresh plums filled with sweet marzipan, coated in a light batter, and deep-fried until golden and crispy.

Unlike some variations that use dried plums, the Thuringian method utilizes fresh fruit to create a temperature contrast between the crunchy exterior and the warm, soft interior. The dish is typically served with cinnamon and powdered sugar.
