Thuringian Teachers' Association calls for relief from workload and bureaucracy

As the 2026/27 school year begins, the Thuringian Teachers' Association (tlv) has expressed concerns regarding the heavy workload facing teachers, educators, and school administrators in Thuringia. While acknowledging that the Thuringian Ministry of Education has identified key challenges and initiated some improvements, the association notes a significant gap between political objectives and the daily reality in schools.

Tim Reukauf, state chairman of the tlv, emphasized that teachers need more time for instruction and pedagogical work, suggesting that non-essential tasks should be removed from the teaching profession. In addition to ongoing staff shortages, school leaders are calling for a reduction in bureaucracy and greater autonomy.

To address these issues, administrators are requesting integrated digital solutions. Specifically, they propose expanding the 'Thuringian School Cloud' into a comprehensive platform to manage communication, digital class registers, grade management, and certificate creation, thereby reducing the need for repetitive data entry.
