THW Kiel cancels Faroe Islands match due to heavy fog
Heavy fog at Vagar Airport has caused significant travel disruptions during the Wenzel Nordic Cup in the Faroe Islands, forcing the cancellation of THW Kiel’s scheduled match against H71. The weather conditions effectively paralyzed the airport for nearly a day, impacting several participating teams.
In addition to THW Kiel, which faced flight delays from Billund, other teams were affected. Valur Reykjavík was unable to land in the Faroe Islands and was diverted to Bergen, Norway, while GOG opted to remain in Gudme until weather conditions improved.
As a result of the cancellation, THW Kiel will now play only two matches instead of the planned three. The German club is scheduled to open its tournament participation on Friday against Valur Reykjavík, with a planned final against GOG on Sunday.
