Thyssen-Bornemisza and Mauritshuis exchange 25 masterpieces

The Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid and the Mauritshuis in The Hague have launched a simultaneous exchange of 25 masterpieces from their permanent collections. This collaborative agreement allows both institutions to showcase significant works from their respective holdings to new audiences.

In Madrid, the exhibition features a collection of 17th-century Dutch and European paintings spanning the years 1615 to 1705. The display is organized into three thematic rooms: still lifes and genre painting, landscapes and figurative compositions, and a final section featuring works by Jan Brueghel the Elder and Rubens.

A major highlight of the exhibition is Johannes Vermeer’s ‘View of Delft’, which is being displayed in Madrid’s Classical Rooms. The exhibition is scheduled to run until January 10, 2027.
