Thyssenkrupp considers selling Essen corporate campus

Thyssenkrupp is considering the sale of its corporate campus in Essen, known as ‘ruhr tech kampus essen’. The management is evaluating various options for the future use and development of the site, which includes the company’s headquarters.

The 23-hectare area contains approximately 100,000 square meters of office and floor space. The potential sale is part of a broader strategic shift led by CEO Miguel López to transform the industrial group into a lean financial holding company focused on managing its holdings.

Company spokespeople stated that operating and developing large-scale real estate areas do not belong to the group’s core business. The decision is also driven by a reduced need for office space due to organizational streamlining and a general decline in demand for office real estate since the pandemic.
