T.I. dismisses Verzuz battles as “poor people activity”

Rapper T.I. told the Joe Budden Podcast that he will not take part in a Verzuz showdown, describing the series as “poor people activity” with no financial upside. He said, “I’m 45, what I’m doing going back‑and‑forth with a n*gga man? Like, for what, bro?” and added he would only consider a match if the money made sense. Earlier this year he had publicly challenged 50 Cent to a battle, but now says he is focused on his forthcoming album Kill The King, due June 26.

Producer Timbaland reacted with confusion to T.I.’s comments, prompting the rapper to clarify that he was speaking while drinking and based on his personal experience with the platform. He also noted he does not wish to create a list of potential opponents, as previous attempts sparked online bickering.
