Tiago Gabriel discusses rapid rise at Lecce

Portuguese defender Tiago Gabriel has reflected on his rapid professional ascent following his move to Lecce. The 21-year-old, who joined from Estrela Amadora in January 2025, noted that he was playing in the fifth tier only two years ago.

Gabriel, standing 196 centimeters tall, transitioned from an offensive winger to a right-back before settling into his current role as a central defender. He cited Cristiano Ronaldo as his childhood idol due to his mentality, while naming Virgil van Dijk as his defensive role model for his leadership and class.

The defender expressed gratitude for the opportunity provided by Lecce officials Pantaleo Corvino and Stefano Trinchera, stating he accepted the move to Serie A immediately.
