Tiago Matias to walk 120km in three days for cancer charity
Tiago Matias, a musician, teacher, and programmer, has been awarded the Gold Grade Municipal Merit Medal by the Municipality of Oliveira do Bairro. To support the charity Acreditar, an association for parents and friends of children with cancer, Matias will undertake a physical challenge known as 'Desafio 120/3'.
Between September 7 and 9, he intends to walk 120 kilometers of the Portuguese Way of Santiago de Compostela in just three days. This pace, averaging 40 kilometers per day, is significantly faster than the typical six-day journey. The initiative aims to raise 3,000 euros, with a campaign slogan suggesting a 25-euro contribution to support each kilometer.
In Odemira, the municipality will award Municipal Merit Medals to António Manuel Nobre Louçã and Deodato Inácio dos Santos during a ceremony on September 8. Louçã is being recognized for his 40-year contribution to the local agricultural and economic development through the Caixa de Crédito Agrícola de São Teotónio. Dos Santos is being honored for his extensive work in culture, education, and sports, including roles as a professor, sculptor, and writer.
