Estudiantes de La Plata forward Tiago Palacios suffered a significant head injury during a Copa Libertadores match against Universidad Católica. The incident occurred in the 57th minute when Palacios collided heads with Colombian midfielder Jhojan Valencia while competing for an aerial ball.

Following the impact, Palacios experienced visible swelling on his forehead. Although he initially received medical attention on the pitch and attempted to continue playing, the pain became unmanageable, forcing manager Alexander Medina to substitute him with Baltasar Rodríguez.
