Tibet Museum opens exhibition marking 40 years of peaceful protests

The Tibet Museum in Dharamshala, India, has inaugurated an exhibition titled ‘Reflections on the 40th Anniversary of the New Generation’s Peaceful Protest Movements (1987–1989)’. The event commemorates the peaceful demonstrations led by Tibetans within Tibet four decades ago.

The exhibition features archival materials and photographs documenting the historic period. It was inaugurated by Penpa Tsering, the Sikyong and president of the Central Tibetan Administration. Notable guests and speakers included Dr. Blake Kerr and John Ackerly, both of whom were eyewitnesses to the 1987 protests. Ackerly contributed photographs from his time as a tourist in Tibet, including images of the demonstrators' courage during the unrest.
