Tibetan communities observe National Identity Preservation Week

Tibetan communities in France and India observed Tibetan National Identity Preservation Week from September 21 to 27. The initiative, organized by various Tibetan associations and the Central Tibetan Administration, aims to raise awareness and promote the preservation of Tibetan language, religion, culture, and traditions.

In France, events included incense offerings at the Pagode de Vincenne, traditional games, and cultural exhibitions. Over 1,000 participants wearing traditional attire took part in a peace and cultural awareness march in Paris, traveling from Place Pasdeloup to Place de la Bastille. Educational programs were also held for students to learn about Tibetan Buddhism and the life of the Dalai Lama.

In the Kullu district of India, Tibetans gathered for prayer ceremonies and cultural performances. The observance serves as a response to efforts to assimilate Tibetan culture, with local leaders and students participating in ceremonies involving the portrait of the Dalai Lama and the singing of national anthems.
