Tibetan goose spotted near Narew River in Ostrołęka
A Tibetan goose (Anser indicus) has been spotted near the Narew River in Ostrołęka, Poland. The bird, which is not native to the local fauna, has been observed swimming, walking, and foraging in the area.
The goose appears healthy and does not seem to require immediate assistance. Due to the presence of a plastic ring, it is suspected that the bird may have originated from a captive breeding facility. Because the species is highly adapted to harsh, cold climates, its presence during the autumn cooling is not considered a cause for concern.
Native to Central Asia, including the Tibetan Plateau and Mongolia, the Tibetan goose is a migratory species known for its exceptional flight capabilities. It is characterized by light, grayish-white plumage and distinctive black stripes on its head and neck.
