Tibor Veres questioned in Óbuda corruption investigation
Tibor Veres, the founder of Wallis Group and one of Hungary's wealthiest individuals with an estimated net worth of 492 billion HUF, has been questioned as a suspect in the Óbuda corruption investigation. The Central Investigative Prosecutor's Office is investigating allegations of bribery related to an investment in the III. district. Veres's legal counsel has dismissed the allegations as baseless.
In separate criminal matters, a man has been detained for one month by the Budapest Central District Court following a stabbing incident on the 4-6 tram line. The suspect is accused of aggravated hooliganism and attempted serious bodily harm after an altercation at a tram stop.
Additionally, in Szeged, prosecutors have moved to arrest two construction workers suspected of stealing approximately 10 million HUF worth of copper cables from a local building site. The stolen materials were reportedly sold as scrap metal.
