Tibu Africa launches forum to empower women through sport

The 4th edition of the National Forum for the Empowerment of Girls and Women through Sport has launched in Casablanca, organized by the NGO Tibu Africa. The event aims to use sports as a lever for equality, professional integration, and female leadership, with a goal of helping two million young girls achieve academic and professional success.

Addressing the fact that nearly half of adolescent girls drop out of sports—six times more than boys—the forum brings together over 50 national and international experts, including representatives from UNESCO, UN Women, and We4She. Discussions focus on equal opportunity, female leadership, and safe sports environments free from harassment and discrimination.

The initiative has secured several international partnerships, including agreements with the Gambia, the Brazilian Embassy, Sport Ireland, and the French Women's Sports Federation. Recommendations from the forum's workshops will inform a strategic roadmap through 2031 to ensure girls can access and remain in sports as a springboard for their futures.
