Italy promotes sustainable mobility through various cycling initiatives

Various Italian municipalities and organizations are launching initiatives to promote sustainable mobility and cycling during European Mobility Week.

In Rome, the ‘Roma corre in bici’ campaign offers financial incentives of up to 30 euros per month for employees and students who use bicycles for commuting. The project, funded by Roma Capitale and Sport e Salute, utilizes the Wecity platform to track kilometers and distribute payments.

In Modena, a new bicycle storage facility has been inaugurated at the Baggiovara Service Center to support the ‘Bike to Work’ project. The facility provides secure parking for up to 40 bicycles for employees of the local health authorities (AUSL and AOU) and Sassuolo Hospital.

Other regional developments include the ‘Slow Moeves’ project in Saluzzo, where local businesses act as custodians for shared bicycles, and the reopening of a significant cycle-pedestrian path in the Ticino Natural Park between Oleggio and Sab-Ghia. Additionally, local cycling clubs in Legnano and Varese are organizing seasonal events to celebrate regional cycling traditions and promote eco-friendly travel.
