Tick activity increases in September
A peak in tick activity is expected in September, which may be more dangerous than the spring surge due to increased humidity and moderate temperatures. Ticks are most active in moist, shaded, and densely overgrown areas such as forests, meadows, and parks, but they can also be found in home gardens or brought indoors by pets.
To minimize the risk of serious diseases like Lyme disease or tick-borne encephalitis, experts recommend wearing protective clothing, such as long sleeves, long pants, and full shoes, preferably in light colors to make the pests easier to spot. Using repellent products and avoiding thick vegetation by sticking to main paths are also advised. After spending time outdoors, it is important to thoroughly check the body, paying close attention to areas like the groin.
