Ticket reseller Daniel Ramírez Arévalo vanishes after 14 million‑peso World Cup scam

Mexican ticket reseller Daniel Ramírez Arévalo allegedly sold tickets for the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening match at Estadio Azteca, promising premium seats and collecting payments between 23,000 and 90,000 pesos per ticket. The total amount reported by victims is about 14 million pesos.

As the promised delivery date approached, Ramírez Arévalo postponed hand‑over, claiming his mother had died. An audio message circulated among buyers, but his mother later posted online confirming she was alive. The reseller has since disappeared, avoiding calls and messages, and no judicial resolution has been announced. The case has drawn significant attention on social media due to the large sum involved and the alleged fake death used to evade buyers.
