Ticul Municipal Market modernized with 52.5 million peso investment

The Government of Yucatán has completed the construction and modernization of the Municipal Market in Ticul. The project involved a joint investment of 52.5 million pesos, with 35 million pesos provided by the state government and 17.5 million pesos from the Ticul City Council.

The modernization covers 2,700 square meters and reorganizes more than 240 commercial spaces, including areas for meat, produce, groceries, and various retail shops. Infrastructure improvements include LED lighting, air conditioning, new electrical installations, and a revamped sanitation system featuring three biodigesters to prevent previous sewage overflow issues in food areas. The project also preserved the historical facade of the building, which dates back to 1915.

In related regional news, Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena highlighted that social welfare programs in Yucatán are reaching 645,000 people through an investment of nearly 16 billion pesos. Additionally, the business sector in Yucatán, led by the Coordinating Business Council, has requested that the state government avoid new or increased taxes in the 2027 budget to prevent negative impacts on employment and local investment.
