Traxsource and Tidal launch AI-generated music labeling policies
Digital music platforms are introducing new labeling systems to identify tracks created with artificial intelligence. Traxsource will flag submissions as "Human‑Made" or "AI‑Assisted" from 1 July and will remove fully AI‑generated tracks, partnering with detection firms SH Labs and SoundPatrol. Co‑founder Brian Tappert said the move aims to preserve value for human‑created works while giving consumers clear choices.
Tidal announced a similar AI policy effective 15 July, automatically tagging wholly AI‑generated songs with an "AI" badge and blocking them from royalty payments and direct‑to‑fan sales. The service will also remove AI tracks that impersonate artists or engage in fraud. Tidal executives emphasized protecting organic creativity and ensuring royalties go to works produced by people.
Both platforms intend to expand tagging to substantially AI‑generated music as detection technology improves, signalling a broader industry shift toward greater transparency and stricter monetisation rules for AI‑produced content.
