TIDCO floats tender for Tiruchy dry port feasibility study

The Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) has issued a tender to appoint a consultant for a Detailed Feasibility Report (DFR) regarding a proposed Multi-Modal Logistics Hub (MMLH) in Tiruchy. The project, which is envisioned as a dry port, aims to bolster logistics infrastructure in central Tamil Nadu.

The study will require the consultant to recommend a site of at least 30 acres and evaluate cargo demand, connectivity, and economic viability. The hub is intended to integrate with digital logistics systems, including the Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP) and the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan. Proposed feeder centers would serve surrounding districts such as Villupuram, Salem, and Madurai.

Tiruchy MP Durai Vaiko noted that while certain locations have been identified by district administration, final decisions depend on the DFR. The project is expected to reduce freight costs and transit times to six major ports, including Chennai, Kamarajar, and Cochin.
