Tien Du No. 1 High School principal addresses controversial dance performance

The principal of Tien Du No. 1 High School in Bac Ninh province has addressed controversy surrounding a modern dance performance during the 2026-2027 school year opening ceremony. Social media users criticized the students' costumes and movements, arguing they were inappropriate for a formal educational setting.

Principal Ngo Thi Hong Thuy responded by stating that shared video clips may have been selectively edited, leading to a one-sided perspective. She clarified that the students wore long pants and high-neck T-shirts, noting that while some movements briefly exposed the waist, they were not offensive.

The performance was part of a program blending traditional and modern styles, featuring the school's dance club. While the school aims to encourage student passion and life skills, the principal acknowledged the administration's responsibility to ensure activities remain harmonious with school culture and national traditions, promising to learn from the feedback.
