Tier IV selected for Japanese government subsidy for Saudi Arabia autonomous driving project
Tier IV has been selected for a subsidy program by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) aimed at fostering global South co-creation. The project focuses on implementing autonomous driving technology in Saudi Arabia to create safe and scalable mobility services.
Under the initiative, Tier IV will conduct demonstrations of autonomous buses tailored to the Saudi Arabian environment, including challenges such as desert temperatures and sandstorms. The project also aims to build a local industrial foundation through human resource development programs in STEM fields. This collaboration aligns with 'Saudi Vision 2030,' which targets the automation of 15% of public transport by 2030. Tier IV will work alongside local partners, including the digital solutions provider Elm, to develop business models for future commercial operations.
