Tierra del Fuego Legislator Luciano Selzer Criticizes School Infrastructure Management

Provincial legislator Luciano Selzer of La Libertad Avanza denounced the lack of planning and preventive maintenance in Tierra del Fuego’s public schools. Citing a recent report from the state prosecutor, Selzer said the education ministry only reacts after emergencies, such as the carbon‑monoxide poisoning incident at School 24 that forced class suspensions. He highlighted that the province has a budget of 15.9 billion Argentine pesos for school infrastructure, including 5.5 billion earmarked for heating and gas upgrades, but that funds are not being used for preventive work. Selzer called for a systematic maintenance program and urged the governor to act on the findings, warning that continued mismanagement threatens students’ safety and disrupts the academic calendar.
