Tierra del Fuego opens funding call for native forest conservation

The Native Forest Consultative Commission (CCBN) has launched a call for projects and plans to be funded under the Native Forest Law in Tierra del Fuego. The initiative aims to support forest management, conservation, fire prevention, restoration of affected areas, and institutional capacity building.

Applications are open to forest owners, non-governmental organizations, and other relevant institutions until October 2, 2026. Leonardo Collado, General Director of Territorial Planning and Forest Environment Management, noted that these funds allow the province to translate resources into direct territorial actions.

In conjunction with the funding call, the CCBN has initiated the update of the Native Forest Territorial Planning (OTBN). This process will involve participatory workshops and meetings in Río Grande, Tolhuin, and Ushuaia to review forest categorization and incorporate diverse perspectives from various sectors of society.
