Argentina political landscape shifts ahead of 2027 elections

Political maneuvering for the 2027 elections is intensifying across various Argentine regions. In the national sphere, economist Hernán Lacunza, a prospective presidential candidate for PRO, has dismissed the possibility of an electoral alliance between PRO and La Libertad Avanza (LLA), citing “irreconcilable constitutional and economic differences.” Meanwhile, in the province of Buenos Aires, negotiations between LLA and PRO face friction regarding the control of municipal territories and the distribution of candidate lists.

In Tierra del Fuego, the political landscape is shifting as local leaders prepare for future contests. Gastón Díaz, Secretary of Government of Río Grande, has expressed support for Martín Pérez as a potential gubernatorial candidate, emphasizing the need for a provincial project focused on industry and employment. Other figures, including Gustavo Ventura and Jorge Lechman, are also emerging in the provincial race. Additionally, in La Rioja, Felipe Álvarez has announced his intention to run for governor under the Por La Rioja banner, positioning himself as an alternative to both the Peronist government and LLA.
