Tifanny Abreu cleared by court to play as Osasco wins Supercopa

Osasco São Cristóvão Saúde has won the Supercopa Feminina title after defeating Dentil Praia Clube 3-0 in São Luís, Maranhão. The victory was highlighted by the participation of Tifanny Abreu, who was cleared to play following a judicial injunction from the Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice.

The injunction allows the transgender athlete to compete in both the Supercopa and the 2026/27 Superliga season. The court ruled that immediate exclusion would unfairly prejudice her career and imposed a R$ 5,000 fine on the Confederação Brasileira de Voleibol (CBV) for every match she is prevented from playing. Additionally, the CBV is prohibited from penalizing Osasco for her participation.

The legal battle stems from a new CBV eligibility policy, aligned with international guidelines, which restricts female category competition to athletes with female biological sex based on SRY gene screening. While the injunction permits Tifanny's immediate participation, it does not nullify the CBV's new regulations, which remain subject to further legal review.
