Toronto International Film Festival reveals 2026 programming details

The 51st Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), scheduled for September 10–20, 2026, has announced several key programming details, including its much-anticipated Midnight Madness section. Curated by Peter Kuplowsky, the Midnight Madness lineup features ten late-night screenings at the Royal Alexandra Theatre, spanning horror, action, and absurdist comedy. Notable titles include the opening film "River" by Joshua Giuliano and the closing film "The Face of Horror" by Anna Biller. The section will also feature a special screening of Na Hong-jin's sci-fi thriller "Hope" and a reprise of Curry Barker's successful film "Obsession."

Other major program announcements include the Centrepiece selection, which features 54 films from 50 countries, with a significant emphasis on African cinema. The documentary lineup includes 21 titles with 18 world premieres. The festival continues to serve as a major platform for global filmmakers, highlighting diverse genres ranging from high-budget science fiction to underground genre cinema.
