Tiffany & Co. partners with Musée des Arts Décoratifs to preserve Jean Schlumberger archive

Tiffany & Co. has launched a four-year conservation and digitization initiative in partnership with the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris to preserve the creative legacy of legendary designer Jean Schlumberger. The project, led by The Tiffany Archives, aims to restore and catalog more than 10,000 items, including approximately 5,000 original drawings and 5,000 archival documents, photographs, and personal papers.

To mark the start of the partnership during Paris Fashion Week, the jeweler presented the exhibition ‘I Am Only a Pencil’ at the museum. The showcase features a selection of Schlumberger’s sketches alongside finished high jewelry pieces, such as the iconic ‘Bird on a Rock,’ to illustrate his creative process. The initiative also involves scientific expertise from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

A private dinner held at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs to celebrate the alliance drew numerous international celebrities, including Anya Taylor-Joy, Adria Arjona, Amanda Seyfried, and Diane Kruger. The event highlighted the brand’s ‘Hidden Garden’ collection, which reinterprets Schlumberger’s nature-inspired motifs through contemporary high jewelry.
