Tiffany & Co. faces customer service crisis in China

Tiffany & Co. is facing a customer service crisis in China after a high-spending VIP client reported being poorly treated following a significant purchase. The customer, a regular at the brand's international locations, spent over 200,000 yuan (approximately $29,800) on diamond rings and bracelets at the Tiffany store in Chengdu's Taikoo Li district.

After the brand failed to deliver promised Mid-Autumn Festival gifts to her family, the store attempted to compensate her by sending a low-cost mooncake bag from a local street vendor. The client shared her experience on social media platforms Xiaohongshu and Weibo, sparking widespread criticism regarding the brand's lack of sincerity and service failures.

In response to the viral backlash, the head of retail for Tiffany China reportedly sent a private apology email to the customer. The incident has highlighted perceived systemic flaws in the luxury brand's customer care processes within the region.
