Tiffany & Co. reacquires archival Plumes necklace and expands HardWear collection
Tiffany & Co. has announced new developments regarding its archival collections and modern jewelry lines. The company successfully reacquired the Plumes necklace, a piece designed by Jean Schlumberger in 1960 for Baroness Fiona Campbell Thyssen-Bornemisza. Christopher Young, Vice President and Visual Creative Director, confirmed the acquisition for the brand's archives following a search facilitated by Dr. Sylvain Cordier of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
Additionally, the brand is expanding its HardWear collection, which was originally inspired by a 1962 archival piece. The new additions feature a contrast between vibrant turquoise and Akoya pearls, drawing inspiration from 1960s jewelry icons like Bunny Mellon and the pop art aesthetics of Andy Warhol. The collection maintains an industrial chic aesthetic that pays homage to the architectural spirit of New York City.
