Tiger Brands invests R200m in Paarl plant expansion, South Africa

Tiger Brands is spending more than R200 million to transform its historic Paarl manufacturing facility in the Western Cape into a state‑of‑the‑art culinary mega‑site. The upgrade adds three dedicated production capabilities: a new vinegar plant with an annual capacity of three million litres, expanded Mrs Ball’s Chutney lines capable of producing 140‑145 metric tons per day, and a switch from tin cans to recyclable PET packaging for jam products. CEO Tjaart Kruger said the investment improves supply security, cost efficiency and product quality, positioning the company for long‑term growth.

The Paarl expansion is part of a broader turnaround that includes asset sales abroad and further South African projects, such as a planned R1 billion bakery slated for 2027 and additional upgrades to snack, confectionery and distribution facilities. Tiger Brands reported a 2.6% revenue rise to about R34.4 billion in its 2025 financial year, with profit up 27%.
