Tiger Woods receives five-year driver's license suspension

Tiger Woods has received a five-year driver's license suspension following a plea deal in Martin County, Florida. The 50-year-old golfer pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of reckless driving and was found guilty of careless driving.

The legal resolution stems from a March 27 incident where Woods' Land Rover collided with a truck and overturned near Jupiter Island. While Woods initially faced more serious driving under the influence (DUI) charges, prosecutors reduced the charges after toxicologists determined there was insufficient evidence to prove impairment. Woods had also been charged with refusing to submit to a lawful test.

As part of the agreement, Woods will pay fines totaling approximately $1,500 and must serve the license suspension concurrently. Judge Darren Steele emphasized the decision was for public safety, stating, “If you were to drive for any reason at all, you would go immediately back to jail. There are no exceptions.” Woods has 30 days to appeal the ruling.
