Tigers prospect Brady Smith exits start with apparent arm injury

Following the blockbuster trade involving Tarik Skubal between the Detroit Tigers and the Los Angeles Dodgers, pitcher Brady Smith exited his recent start with an apparent injury. Smith, who was part of the deal that sent the two-time Cy Young winner to Los Angeles, walked off the mound in the second inning while pitching for the West Michigan Whitecaps due to discomfort in his right arm and wrist.

Smith, a former high-level prospect for the Dodgers, has previously undergone Tommy John surgery. While the Tigers have not yet announced a formal diagnosis or placed him on the injured list, the incident has cast doubt on his 2026 season.

Meanwhile, Dodgers star Mookie Betts commented on Tarik Skubal’s integration into the team, noting that the pitcher has begun to show more personality and has successfully become “a part of the boys” in the clubhouse after an initially quiet transition.
