Tigo integrates Tuenti in Ecuador, maintains service terms

Tigo announced that the Tuenti brand in Ecuador will be rebranded under the Tigo name. Existing customers will keep their phone numbers, SIM cards, plan conditions, Combos, gig accumulation and payment methods, and the transition date has not been set.

The company also confirmed that there are no plans to lower mobile‑plan prices. Instead, Tigo will focus on network modernization, investing roughly $800 million in 5G licences, infrastructure expansion and other upgrades. CEO Marcelo Benítez said the priority is a smooth transition and analysing user consumption before any pricing changes.
