Tigre City Council approves request for digital health appointments

The Tigre City Council has unanimously approved a request for the municipal executive to implement a digital appointment system for local health centers. This move follows widespread public outcry and social media images showing residents, including elderly citizens and parents with young children, waiting in lines during the early morning hours to secure medical appointments.

The initiative, which was incorporated into file HCD 31/2026, was originally presented in February by Councilwoman Milagros Rodríguez. While the ruling administration supported the proposal during committee work, the debate in the chamber highlighted political tensions regarding the management of public health. Councilman Sebastián Rovira emphasized the hardship faced by those waiting in the cold and offered a mobile application developed by his team to manage appointments, a tool that received public support from Sergio Massa but faced technical and data privacy scrutiny from the current administration.

The proposal now rests with the Executive branch for evaluation and implementation. In the interim, council members have called for immediate improvements to the current system to ensure that those waiting in line have access to basic facilities like bathrooms and shelter from the weather.
