Tigre Mayor Julio Zamora honors adult literacy through literary contest

Tigre Mayor Julio Zamora attended the awards ceremony for the “Casas que Hablan” literary contest held at the Centro Universitario Tigre (CUT). The initiative is part of the “Tigres Lectores” program, which aims to foster community development through writing.

The contest specifically incentivizes students from Adult Primary Schools (EPA) within the municipality. More than 100 residents participated in the competition, with awards presented in both individual and group categories. Gisela Zamora, the Secretary of Education and Social Promotion, noted that the program has seen significant community engagement, including individuals over the age of 60 learning to read and write.

Mayor Zamora emphasized that education serves as the “backbone of our community” and highlighted the importance of providing educational, sanitary, cultural, and sporting resources to vulnerable populations. The program was conducted in coordination with the Province of Buenos Aires and included participation from writer Diego De Gregori.
