Tigre Municipality distributes orthopedic aid to residents
The Municipality of Tigre has provided orthopedic equipment and assistance items to more than 30 residents during an event at the Juana Azurduy Rehabilitation Center. The distribution included wheelchairs, eyeglasses, canes, and walkers intended to improve the autonomy and quality of life for vulnerable community members.
The initiative was led by Gisela Zamora, Secretary of Education and Social Promotion, and Marcela Jáuregui, General Director of Disability and Inclusive Policies. Local officials stated that the program, driven by Mayor Julio Zamora, aims to strengthen social public policies and maintain healthcare quality during a complex national period.
Jáuregui noted that the Juana Azurduy Rehabilitation Center currently serves more than 1,600 patients per month. Local authorities framed the municipal action as a necessary response to the perceived withdrawal of the national government from disability-related functions and funding.
