La Matanza: Thief dies after being struck during attempted robbery

A 25-year-old man, identified as Ángel Nahuel Gilardoni, died after being struck by a vehicle during an attempted robbery in Lomas del Millón, La Matanza. The victim, 61-year-old Daniel Alfredo Tireni, accelerated his car to escape an ambush by armed individuals in a grey Volkswagen Suran, striking Gilardoni in the process.

Following the impact, Gilardoni's accomplices reportedly loaded him into the Volkswagen Suran and transported him to a residence in Villa Madero, where he was left in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead after medical personnel arrived at the home.

Police investigations, aided by security camera footage, led to the arrest of a 27-year-old suspect, Franco Abadie, who had been renting the vehicle used in the crime. Authorities are investigating the incident as an attempted robbery and homicide, though judicial officials have noted that the driver's actions may be considered legitimate defense.
